Fire Risk Assessments

Understand your water system. Manage the risk.

Professional Legionella risk assessments designed to identify potential risk areas within water systems and provide clear recommendations.

What is a Legionella risk assessment?

Legionella bacteria can develop in water systems under certain conditions, particularly where water sits unused or is held at temperatures that allow growth. A Legionella risk assessment reviews a building’s water system to identify where those conditions may exist.

The purpose is practical rather than alarming: understand the system, identify the points that need managing and set out sensible recommendations for keeping it under control.

What is Legionella?
Legionella is a type of bacteria that can develop in water systems under certain conditions, such as where water is stored or left standing at temperatures that allow growth.

A review of the building’s water system — storage, temperatures, outlets, pipework, usage patterns, existing controls and relevant records — followed by a written report of findings and recommendations.

Apex commonly assesses HMOs, care homes, rented property, commercial premises, retail units and workplaces. If you’re unsure, call and describe the building.

Reports are typically returned within a maximum of 48 hours of the assessment.

The report explains what was found and sets out recommended actions in order of priority. Where several actions are identified, Apex can revisit once they have been addressed.

Across England and Wales, with coverage extending north as far as Newcastle.
